Mail-in Biological Sterilizer Monitoring (Spore Testing)


To meet the needs of our clients, we offer our sterilizer monitoring service in numerous testing frequencies, including weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly. For your convenience, our testing services are available for Steam/Autoclave, Chemical Vapor, Dry Heat and Ethylene Oxide sterilization cycles.

North Bay/Bioscience biological sterilizer monitoring service includes:
- 24 hour incubation of steam tests
- Prompt telephone notification on all failed tests
- Quarterly Statement of Test Results (monthly available)
- Secure access to test results online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

F. Sterilization Monitoring

1. Use mechanical, chemical, and biological monitors according to the manufacturer's instructions to ensure the effectiveness of the sterilization process (IB) (248,278,279).

6. Monitor sterilizers at least weekly by using a biological indicator with a matching control (i.e., biological indicator and control from same lot number) (IB) (2,9,243,247,278,279).

7. Use a biological indicator for every sterilizer load that contains an implantable device. Verify results before using the implantable device, whenever possible (IB) (243,248).
