$24.95Sure-Check Strips (box of 100)
The Sure-Check process indicator is designed for use in steam autoclaves operating at 121 – 134 degrees C (250 – 270 degrees F) or chemical vapor sterilizers operating at 132 degrees C (270 degrees F). When used as directed, Sure-Check strips give visible confirmation that items have been exposed to a steam or alcohol/formaldehyde vapor sterilization process. During the steam process the indicator square at the end of the strip turns from white to black. When the Sure-Check strip is used in a Chemiclave chemical vapor sterilizer the indicator square will turn dark-brown to indicate the item has been exposed to the alcohol/formaldehyde vapor process.
Instructions For Use
- Check the appropriate box on the indicator strip showing which sterilization process is being utilized.
- Place a Sure-Check indicator strip in each pack, peel pouch or tray to be steam or chemical vapor sterilized. The strip should be placed at a location in the package that is considered to be the most difficult for steam or chemical vapor to reach. For larger packs, use several strips and place them at several locations in the pack/tray.
- Process the package as usual for steam or chemical vapor sterilization.
- Following steam processing, visually verify that the indicator square at the end of the Sure-Check strip has changed color from white to black. The black color indicates that the package has been exposed to steam processing. Following chemical vapor processing, visually verify that the indicator square at the end of the Sure-Check strip has changed color from white to dark brown. The dark brown color indicates that the package has been exposed to chemical vapor processing.
- If the indicator is white or brown when exposed to a steam sterilization cycle, then the item was not exposed to a sufficient steam cycle. If the indicator is white or light brown when exposed to a chemical vapor sterilization cycle, then the item was not exposed to a sufficient chemical vapor sterilization cycle in the Chemiclave. If there is any doubt about the sterility of the item, it must be considered NOT sterile.
CAUTION: Do not use strips when the indicator square is not off-white in color prior to exposure to steam or chemical vapor processing.
Storage:
The Crosstex Sure-Check process indicators should be stored at room temperature 10 – 38 degrees C (50 – 100 degrees F) and normal humidity (30 – 60%). When stored as directed the strips have a shelf life of 5 years from date of manufacture.
Chemical Indicators/Integrators
- Chemical indicators show that the package has been exposed to the physical conditions within a sterilizer; they do not prove that sterilization has taken place.
- There are several types of chemical indicators available. Each type is meant to monitor specific parameters such as time, temperature, and/or the presence of steam or gas.
- External chemical indicators which are placed on the outside of the package and should be checked after the sterilization process.
- Internal chemical indicators which are placed within the package in an area that is least accessible to the sterilant and should be checked at point-of-use. If parameters are not met, the product should NOT be considered sterile and should be reprocessed before use.
- A special type of chemical indicator, called a chemical integrator measures time, steam, and temperature.
- Chemical indicators are best when used with every load inside each package or placed among unwrapped instruments. Follow the chemical indicator manufacturer's instructions for interpretation of results.
